The Andean Continent is one of the seven main areas of land in the World. Currently, Peru is a country inside it. The Andes is the unique longest continental mountain range in the World. This mountain chain is about 8,000 Km (5,000 Mi.) long, about 200 Km (120 Mi.) to 700 Km (430 mi) wide (being widest between 18° south and 20° south latitude), and with a highest elevation at 6,962 m (22,841 Ft.). The Andes range spreads from South to North through seven countries: Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela. Along this extension is grouped into three major division which are: Tropical Andes Zone, the Dry Andes and the Wet Andes. At the same time, The Andes is split into several chains (South, Central and North Andes). And finally those are fragmented into many small ranges like White Mountain Range (YURAQ HANKA or Cordillera Blanca), Black Mountain Range (YANA HANKA or Cordillera Negra), WALLANKA, WAYWASH, so on.
Location : Western South hemisphere and to the East side of the South Pacific Ocean. It is bordered by Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador.
